Random Monday…

Today’s post is gonna be pretty random, kinda like my thoughts lately. I had so many things I was going to accomplish this summer and now I’m realizing that the summer is almost over. Ack! I haven’t gotten hardly any of it done!

I only mow my yard once a week, on Tuesday mornings because that’s the only morning of the week that I can and I surely don’t want to mow it when it’s 110 degrees outside. But with all these thunderstorms lately the grass has been growing like crazy and really needs to be mowed more than once a week. Like it needs to be mowed today, but do you think I’m mowing it? Nope, I’ve got plans with my family today so the yard will have to wait until Tuesday morning like usual. So if you drive by my house and notice the yard looks neglected…that’s why.

Now, on to more randomness. I have trip planned to Ashville later this month. It’s just an adult trip, me and April are going to a conference together. My first conference, yay! It’s a women’s conference being hosted by some bloggers that I follow. They’re going to be sharing tips on decorating, thrifting, furniture refinishing, turning trash into treasure, living frugally, etc. I think it’ll be a lot of fun. Partly just to go out of town for a night with only adults. I mean, I love my kids, but taking children on vacation, while fun, is never relaxing, ya know? So hopefully I’ll come back recharged and ready to take control of my life, haha! I’ll share more on that once it actually happens:). But seriously, I do hope it motivates me to get started on some of these projects that I thought I’d get finished this summer before school starts back. Because since we homeschool, school starting back means I’ll have less free time instead of more.

Projects like:

Finish painting the upstairs hallway (When I painted the main area of the house blue/gray I didn’t have enough paint to finish it so I figured I’d just stop at the upstairs landing and finish it later. Well, it’s only been since February…I did actually buy more paint a couple of weeks ago and finally started cutting in on Saturday. So maybe that’ll get done soon.)

Paint/refinish the coffee table

Paint and glaze the front door (I saw one that I love on the cover of a magazine. I had the color matched at Benjamin Moore, but I’m just waiting until it cools off enough to keep the front door open. At least, that’s my excuse:))

Hem the curtain in my office and cover it with a prettier fabric. (Last winter when I was editing pictures the light coming in my office was so bright I couldn’t see my computer screen good enough. So I went and bought one of those room-darkening curtains which did the trick. I had intentions of hemming it because it’s a full length curtain and my window is short. Also, since those curtains don’t come in pretty fabrics I thought I’d hang something cuter over it. Again, that was only about a year ago.)

Hang a shelf in my office to hold some of the supplies that are cluttering my desktop.

So, that’s just a few of the things I’d like to get finished soon…sorry I don’t have any pictures to share on this post…hope you have a great Monday and a great week!

I can’t believe you didn’t tell me about the conference lady! I am so excited for you – it sounds awesome! I want to hear all about it when you get back :)
Good luck on your To Do list… I totally understand!

You are not the only one with unfinished projects! I’ve got a “To-Do Before Baby Arrives” list in my mind – I’m scared to write it down because it is looonnng!! I know the baby is still a ways off, but it takes me awhile to get stuff done. And these are not simple little projects – it’s big stuff! I think my modivation will come with cooler weather :)
