I know that choosing a photographer is about more than looking at a portfolio of their work; you like to know more about who you’re choosing also. This is me, and this is the place where you’ll find out more about me.

Well, what should I start with? I guess I’ll start with clarifying my name. I’m Mona Alicia. But just call me Alicia. Mona Alicia is my given name, but I’ve always been called Alicia. I’m named after my mama. I have two daughters, Charlotte who is 10 and Samantha who is 9. You’ll see several pictures of them appearing on my blog. We also have two dogs, a Doberman named Sasha and a Chihuahua mix named Buttons.
I love spending time with my friends and family…playing Scrabble is often involved, it’s my favorite game and yes, I know that sounds nerdy. I love to read, all types of books, I go through stages. I spend too much time reading other people’s blogs. I have a sarcastic sense of humor that I should keep better control of and I honestly try to when I’m meeting people for the first time.
My favorite type of portraiture is on location using natural light. I also prefer to approach it in a semi-photojournalistic way. By that I mean I like to capture what is happening, instead of so much posing. I always do some posing, especially to start. But when everyone gets loosened up, then the great captures happen! Spontaneous grins, cute gestures, exchanged glances, they are all priceless! I also love to include pets in family shoots, so if you have a four-legged family member they are welcome, too.
